Adam Corneilus Roberts’ makes 2-dimensional mixed media art using plastic laminate membranes “to trap globs of paint that ooze in a transparent state of suspended coagulation,” stated curator Angie Seykora writing about Roberts’ work for the exhibit OOOze shown at the Amplify arts Generator space on Vinton Street in 2019.

Roberts’ mixed media works suspend paint in space, as a transparent veil that can be viewed from either side, allowing light to pass through the membranes so that the objects inside can be distinctly seen from either side. Roberts’ 2-dimensional mixed media art can also be hung along a flat wall surface, allowing the focus to be on the intense saturation and brightness of color.

“Roberts is a mixed media engineer working in the fields of visual and audible art, respectively as a producer and facilitator. His work is heavily influenced by color field painting where color is freed from objective context and becomes the subject in itself. He works to all but remove the traditional frame and surface from the process of painting to suspend paint in its pure form, uninhibited.” AmplifyArts.org/oooze
