Jeff Sedrel is from Omaha Nebraska, where he earned his BA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2012. After college he moved to the East Coast, then West, before returning to Omaha for a fellowship at the Union for Contemporary Art in 2017. Besides his Fine Art, Sedrel is also known for his Graphic Design work, as well as his roles in various independent music endeavors.

Sedrel’s most recent work has been focused on abstracted floral motifs. Painting in a loose style the resulting imagery shows vivid spatial arrangements of form and color, blurring the line between expression and objectivity. The compositions are most often of his own invention, while occasionally taking a cue from traditional still-life painting. Working in a mix of media on either canvas or paper, Sedrel compresses space, filling it with an explosion of bright, direct gestures that speak to natural abundance and the pleasures of art making unfettered by standard iconography or didactic intent.

Sedrel has been nominated for multiple Omaha Entertainment and Arts awards, and his work has been collected nationwide.
