Lindsey Day is a visual artist and craftsman based in the Midwest. She works in oil and mixed media on panel and has exhibited nationally. Her passion for making has recently found her producing theatre props and oversized sculpture works, but her roots are two-dimensional. Lindsey earned an MFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Nebraska–Lincoln, followed by residencies at the Vermont Studio Center, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, and the Lux

Center for the Arts.

Through painting and collage, Lindsey conceptualizes the drama and spirit she finds within the modern landscape. Her visual language reflects the tone of the environments where she lives, addressing the destruction, preservation, and metamorphosis of spaces within her community.

As a queer artist, Lindsey views life in the Midwest as allegory for painting - romantic and tragic, right in the middle of it all. It is this balance of opposing forces that has shaped her practice and inspires her mark making.

Lindsey’s diverse materials and projects help facilitate new personal and artistic relationships as she continues to explore new modes of creating. She currently mentors emerging artists in Nebraska in both freelance and professional capacities. Catch her in the shop at Omaha Community Playhouse or at her home studio to see what’s in the works.
