Tessa V. Wedberg is a writer; she studied journalism and film at The University of Oregon and worked on her first feature film set after graduation. She has been in various roles on film, commercial, and music video sets for almost 25 years (production assistant, script supervisor, coordinator, producer, and director). She has a documentary in production, another in development, and a script and book in motion. She loves bringing people together whose artistry, care, and skills connect and spark the unexpected.
Tessa’s been making personal works in diverse mediums for years. These works serve as display cases for her wild interior landscapes. She’s still working in words and film but also photo, printing on fabric, glass, audio pieces, light boxes, installation concepts, and beyond.
A strong interest for Tessa is how people heal as individuals, communities, families, and relationships across memory and time. How solitude and connection, silence and sound and shape transform us, live in our bodies, and influence the ways we go home. Part of her practice includes discovering the archives in her family stories–all the love letters, images, diaries, and film reels kept. She’s feeling into ways to collaborate with her family who she knew and never met. Walking, getting lost, time in nature, and movement are important to her practice. She’s interested in how living in our unique bodies and connecting uncomfortably and honestly to our own truths will release us and reframe the narratives we run.
Whether the project be client-driven work, a creative collaboration, or writing a poem on the back of an old receipt, it all moves from the same place of curiosity, intuition, and joy.
